The Biggest Challenges of Fundraising
They say that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and we believe that with every ounce of our being. Particularly at this time of year, people tend to be more generous as they count their own blessings and wish to pay it forward in blessing others.
At All Things Possible, we are a non-profit organization that can only do what we do because of the support and generosity of donors. Without you, we would not have been able to help as many people as we have over the last few years. But as with anything worth doing, the road has not been easy. As a non-profit, we strive to make the most of every penny given, but we have certainly faced challenges in raising funds to give more families wheelchair vans.
As shared by Lisa, our founder and director, here are the biggest challenges of fundraising for All Things Possible and how you can help us overcome those challenges.
Price per Impact
If you have ever researched non-profits or ministry organizations, you’ve likely seen a fact or statistic called “price per impact.” This refers to the dollar amount that it costs to impact one person with their particular cause. For example, one meal for someone in need might cost $3.00, or a pair of socks for the homeless might cost $1.00. For All Things Possible, our price per impact is incredibly high because the cost of wheelchair vans is high. This often disqualifies us from receiving grant money, as they want the money they donate to impact as many individuals as possible.
We know that what we’re doing is absolutely life-changing, and regardless of the price per impact, we are making a huge difference in the lives of our neighbors and community members. While meals and socks and other areas of assistance matter a great deal, what we are doing is drastically improving the quality of life, health, and even lifespan of disabled individuals and their families for years to come. But because of this price-per-impact statistic, it can be more difficult to receive donations and funds from larger organizations, meaning we have to work harder to raise the money needed to support our cause.
Lack of Corporate Funding
For the reasons mentioned above, we struggle to secure corporate funding, particularly in larger increments. This means we rely almost entirely on individual donations, which are often given in much smaller amounts. It takes A LOT of $20, $50, and $100 donations to reach the goal of purchasing a used wheelchair van, which are currently averaging $36,500 each. We appreciate every single dollar given, and we utilize each one as well as we can, but it definitely takes us longer to bless a family when we don’t have access to corporate grants that many other nonprofits receive.
Get Involved
Because of the donations of very generous individuals and local small business owners, All Things Possible has been able to give away 17 wheelchair vans in the last two years alone! Even as we’ve seen an increase in prices for each van (average $9k more in 2022), we’ve also seen an increase in the Lord’s provision and the generosity of others, allowing us to continue making a difference for those in need.
