Partnerships Made in Heaven

Anyone who has been part of something big knows that it takes a village. While we firmly believe that one person can make a difference in the world, we also know that many hands make a light load and that more people can move a message farther and faster than one individual. Here at All Things Possible, we deeply value our partnerships with those who help make our organization a success. We want to highlight some of the individuals and groups that have helped make our organization what it is.

Board of Directors

Our board of directors is the leadership team that keeps our organization focused and on task. We lovingly refer to them as our gatekeepers. They help with fundraising, share our mission with their own networks, and help make key decisions regarding the direction of the organization. They also play a role in helping to select which applicants receive wheelchair vans.

Medical Review Team

We have a handful of detail-oriented individuals who use their strengths in investigating and evaluating financial and medical information on our applicants. They advise the board of directors on any relevant data that they need to know before voting on who we can and cannot help. This team also determines the urgency of each situation as it relates to the other vetted applicants.

Advisory Team

Our advisory team is a group of subject matter experts who all play a large role in the daily progress the organization makes. On this team, we have professionals in business, finance, marketing, technology, and event planning.

Karen

Karen Long is our administrative assistant, family liaison, software administrator, and behind-the-scenes everything. Though she moved from Charlotte to Columbia over a year ago, she is a pivotal part of keeping our organization running smoothly. As the only 2 employees, Karen and our Executive Director, Lisa Sexton, communicate nearly every day to keep the mission on track.

Ilderton Conversion Company

When we purchase a van to give to a family in need, they are usually already converted into wheelchair vans. We buy all of our wheelchair vans from Ilderton Conversion Company, which has five locations across the Carolinas. Some families will qualify for a special Medicaid program in North Carolina called CAP-C, which allows us to purchase a regular van and have Ilderton send it off to convert it into a wheelchair accessible van. Medicaid pays for that conversion, and families must be previously qualified for this benefit through Medicaid. This process takes several months and involves a great deal of paperwork between the family, Medicaid, and the dealership, but it can save us several thousand dollars, allowing us to stretch our donations further and help more people.

MMI

Before we gift a van to a family in need, we have a very involved vetting process to explore the financials of the family. MMI is the company that helps us do this, and they do it at no charge to the families or us. This process of financial vetting includes two main things. First, we want to ensure that a family truly cannot purchase a wheelchair van on their own. Second, we want to ensure they can afford the additional expenses of owning the wheelchair van, including gas, maintenance, and significantly higher insurance costs. We would only be doing a disservice to a family if we gifted them a van that only added undue financial strain, and MMI helps to make sure we’re covering all our bases.

Donors and Supporters

While we would be lost without all the people and organizations above, we truly could not do anything without our generous donors and supporters. Without people like you sharing what we do and giving freely of your time, talents, and treasures, we wouldn’t have made a fraction of the impact that we have.

Each individual and group listed above has truly been a Godsend. We believe that each partnership we have was truthfully created in heaven and meant to be a blessing to those we’ve helped in our community. We have a big goal to grow our reach and extend our impact, and to do that, we need involvement from passionate community members like you. We are currently looking for marketing gurus, fundraising experts, registered nurses, and other passionate individuals to join our team.
